Countdown to Turkey Day 2009

Heather says:

Thanksgiving is my favorite time of year. I’m a firm believer that all have two families, those we are born to and those we create and this is a time to celebrate with both. This year, I’ll be posting: recipes, shopping lists, a break down of how to get things done in a timely manner (with reminders to do so), cleaning checklists, and a few *gasp* decorating ideas.

To build my street cred -ha!- I served Thanksgiving dinner to about twenty friends and family this evening. Some wonderful friends pitched in during the home stretch to pull it all together and make sure I had pictures of the whole project. I hope you keep checking in as I countdown to Thanksgiving 2009. Even if you’ve never hosted a holiday before, this series should help you tackle the adventure with confidence.

  1. Your picture has me drooling! Yum!
And you've given me courage to reach out to do a special dinner for friends this year. We will be sharing TDay with my daughter's in-laws, who live nearby, so, for once, I won't be cooking and hosting. But I'll check with friends to see if we can get together separately before the big day for our own celebration …………. and maybe that will even motivate me to finish decluttering my dining room! LOL Thanks as always.
(And give our best to Ivy)

  2. Hi! Post a recipe for mashed potatoes. You may think they are easy-peasy; but mine never come out savory. I started using hot (warm) milk, but how do you get "special" Thanksgiving mashed potatoes?

  3. lol I'm stealing it too! I'm not hosting this year, thankfully. I still need to do a run on my lavendar chocolate cake to see if it tastes any good. Thankfully, I have plenty of willing guinea pigs.

  4. Loved the entire slideshow that you posted…looked like a fabulous time! Can’t wait for the countdown posts (well, catching up with the first ones, and will be eagerly awaiting the rest… :D)
